Magic Kingdom opened on October 1, 1971 as the first of four theme parks at Walt Disney World! The park was built as a larger, improved version of the Disneyland Park in California. Magic Kingdom is divided into six different lands; Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

So, starting off with our first land, Main Street U.S.A. This area of the park is based off a small town in Missouri’s Main Street. All along Main Street you’ll find various shops selling merchandise and food. The design for Main Street U.S.A. is an early 20th century small town America, so all the décor inside and outside of the buildings resemble this design. Also, all the cast members working in the shops along Main Street will be dressed in costumes that resemble the time period’s fashion.

The next section of the park is the hub, right off Main Street. The Hub is at the very center of Magic Kingdom. Here is where all six lands come together in front of Cinderella Castle. In the Hub, you will find the Partner’s Statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, Cinderella Castle Stage, and the best viewing spots for all the stage shows, parades and nighttime fireworks that happen daily within the Magic Kingdom.

Now going clockwise through the lands, the first actual land that you come to is Adventureland. Adventureland represents the mystery of exploring foreign lands. Like for instance exploring the remote jungles of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America and the South Pacific. And the perfect ride for that is taking a tour on the Jungle Cruise! Some other attractions in this area is The Pirates of the Caribbean, the Enchanted Tiki Room, the Swiss Family Tree-house and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin.

The next land is Frontierland where guests can relive the American Old West! From cowboys and Indians to exploring the mysteries of the Rivers of America. Frontierland is home to some iconic classic rides and attractions, those are; Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain and the Country Bear Jamboree.

This next section of the of the park is called Liberty Square and it resembles that of a colonial American town during the American Revolution. This area of the park is neat because like when walking through Main Street, you feel like you are in a whole other era. The rides and attractions within this area are the Liberty Belle Riverboat, the Haunted Mansion, the Hall of Presidents and the Muppets Present Great Moments in American History.

Next is probably the most visited section of the park and that is Fantasyland. It is located directly behind Cinderella Castle and in it are rides and attractions based off the most popular animated Disney movies. In the words of Walt Disney, “Fantasyland is dedicated to the young at heart and to those who believe that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.” The rides and attractions within Fantasyland are: It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey’s PhillharMagic, Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train and Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. Now there is also a second themed Fantasyland called Storybook Circus which has taken on the “kids” area of the park. Within Storybook Circus you can find the Barnstormer, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Casey Jr. Splash n’ Soak Station and Pete’s Silly Sideshow.

The last section of the park is Tomorrowland. It is set in an intergalactic city of the future. Some of the classic rides and attractions within Tomorrowland are: Space Mountain, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, Astro Orbiter, Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover, the Tomorrowland Speedway, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Monster’s INC Laugh Floor and Stitch’s Great Escape.

And lastly! I don’t want to forget about the Walt Disney World Railroad! It acts as the park’s method of transportation between the different lands with three stations throughout the park; Main Street Station, Frontierland Station and Fantasyland Station. This attraction can be used as transportation around the park or just a way to rest and recharge so that you can finish out a day at Magic Kingdom!
