EPCOT

EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) opened on October 1, 1982 as the second of four parks in Walt Disney World. Walt’s original vision for this park was for it to be a model community of tomorrow that would never be completed by always introducing, testing and demonstrating new materials and new systems. It would have been home to twenty thousand residents and built in the shape of a circle with business and commercial areas at its center with community buildings, schools and recreational complexes around it with residential neighborhoods lining the perimeter. Unfortunately, Walt passed before being able to construct his experimental community and the park was built into the park that we all know today. EPCOT is made up of two distinct areas, Future World and World Showcase.
